What is a Fan advisory board?

It is an independent body made up of representatives from Cardiff City supporters fan base created for in-depth discussion with the Club’s hierarchy including Executive Club Staff and the Club’s Board of Directors.

Who can apply to be elected to the Fan Advisory Board (FAB)?

Any Cardiff City fan with who is registered as a season ticket holder or member (including corporate) as of 1 December 2023 can apply to be considered for election to the Fan Advisory Board.

How do I apply?

What details need to be included on the form?

Submissions must include a biography (max 200 words) explaining why you are applying for the Fan Advisory Board and the skillset, knowledge and experience you would bring.

What are the dates of the Application opening and closing dates?

The application window opens on 21/12/2023

The application window will close on 05/01/2024

Can I withdraw from the process if I change my mind?

A candidate can withdraw from the election by submitting a notice of withdrawal. This must be confirmed in writing by contacting Cardiff City Football Club (slo@cardiffcityfc.co.uk).

Any withdrawals should be received before the ballot opens for voting on 12/01/2024.

How will the final election candidates be selected?

We are looking for three candidates to be directly elected by the season ticket holders and members of Cardiff City FC.

Once the application window closes, nominations will be reviewed by a shortlisting election panel comprising of the current statutory FAB members. A score will be attributed to each candidate based on their biography to establish the final five candidates in each category who will be put forward for election.

The shortlisting process will aim to ensure that each of the candidates meet one of the following criteria.

  • One Cardiff City Season Ticket Holder or member aged 18-24 years old.
  • One female Cardiff City Season Ticket Holder or member
  • One Cardiff City Season Ticket Holder or member with no further eligibility requirements

Candidates must state which criteria they are applying to be elected to.

How will I know if I have been shortlisted for election to the FAB?

Once the shortlisting process is complete, all applicants will be contacted by the Fan Advisory Board to confirm whether their application has been successful or unsuccessful.

The names and bios of the final fifteen (Max 5 in each category) candidates will then be published on Cardiff City FC and FAB web page & social media ahead of the fan vote commencing.

When will the vote open?

The vote will open on 12/01/2024

Details of the vote and voting process will be published on Cardiff City FC and FAB channels and sent to Season ticket holders and members who have opted in to receiving club e mails.

Who can vote?

Any Cardiff City fan who is a current season ticket holder or member will be eligible to vote. Each voter will be asked to select their three preferred candidates, one in each category.

Each vote will carry equal weight and voters will be able to allocate a maximum of one vote per candidate.

How will the election result be decided and verified?

The vote will be independently verified by the Football Supporters’ Association.

The three candidates with the highest number of votes will be declared the winners and invited to join the Fan Advisory Board.

How will the election result be announced?

Once the result of the fan vote has been verified by the Football Supporters’ Association, all candidates will be contacted by the Fan Advisory Board and informed whether they have been successful or unsuccessful.

The names of the three candidates elected to the Fan Advisory Board will then be published on CCFC and FAB channels.

If I am a candidate, can I campaign during the voting window?

Yes, candidates may directly or indirectly promote their candidacy, but they must not accept donations or other forms of support from third parties.

Candidates are encouraged to use their social media channels and other avenues of communication to promote themselves and the FAB vote.

If I am elected, how long will I serve?

The term to be served is expected to be 2 years but this will be finally determined at the first FAB meeting.

When any position on the FAB is up for election, the term to be served will be clearly publicised as part of the application process.
