Jak Alnwick spoke to the press following our 1-0 victory over Millwall at Cardiff City Stadium.
A first half header from Perry Ng was enough for the Bluebirds to claim all three points.
“I think when you dig in and win like that, it can set your season up.” Jak began. “That felt unbelievable, everyone dug in.
"We needed something like that, needed to get a win, it doesn’t matter how it comes. We played good football in the first half and dug deep in the second half.
"It's one of those things where if we went 2-0 up, the game is killed off. When you haven't had that win, sometimes it is harder to get over the line. Hopefully, that will kickstart us."
In the final minutes of the contest, the City shot-stopper made a crucial close-range save to deny Duncan Watmore, ensuring a valuable clean sheet.
Jak continued: “I kind of half-knew he was going to do that and I was thinking just get anything behind this. There were bodies on the line all day today - Callum Robinson wins us the three points, clears one off the line in the first half.
"Perry, a defender, scores a goal and a striker clears one off the line. That’s sometimes how you have to win games, but every performance out there was unbelievable.
"It could have been a lot more comfortable tonight, we had clear cut chances. As long as we keep getting in the areas we will score goals. We’ve had a reaction, we stood up and that’s what counted tonight.”
City's next fixture is the Severnside derby this Sunday against Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
"We're looking forward to it," Jak added. "There was no doubt about it, we thought that we had to win tonight.
"It's nice to go there on the back of a win, and hopefully this can kickstart the season and we can be another three points better off come the international break."
