Wintle pre-Millwall | We want to perform for the home fans
Ahead of Cardiff City‘s return to CCS on Saturday, Ryan Wintle spoke to the press and media in the Welsh capital.
The Bluebirds will be looking to return to winning ways in front of the home crowd this weekend, with Saturday’s fixture against the Lions being the first of a double header, to be followed by Wednesday night’s clash with Birmingham City.
“We had two tough games against teams around the Play-Off spots, so it was never going to be easy,” said Ryan. “We would’ve liked to get more points, but it’s behind us now and we’ve got two home games where we’re looking to win both, which hopefully we can.
“There are a lot of games coming up and we won’t have much time in training to work on things, so we just want to keep the spirits high and we can get that by winning games.
“We’ve got games every three days from the 23rd, so ideally going into that we want to be up and around the Play-Offs.
“It’s swings and roundabouts in football, and it’s just about how you bounce back. We’ve got a great opportunity on Saturday to do that. Everyone’s fit and ready to go, so ideally we need to get the three points.”
Looking forward to returning to play in front of the CCS crowd this weekend, City’s number 6 shared his thoughts on an important pair of fixtures ahead of a busy festive schedule.
“Our home form has been the best that it’s been in my time here, I think,” Ryan continued. “The fans are turning out in their numbers every week, so we’re hoping they’re enjoying it as well.
“It’s about putting in performances for them and keep on earning the three points. These next two home matches are massive.
"We’ve got teams coming here who are around where we are at the minute, and every game is going to be tough in the Championship, but when we’re at home and we’re in the form we’ve been in, we should be looking at win.”
