Aaron Ramsey spoke to the media following Cardiff City’s 0-0 draw to West Bromwich Albion, confirming that the Bluebirds will compete in League One in the 2025/26 season.
“I’m gutted, obviously.” Aaron began. “I’m a fan as well and I’m sad. The fans have had a difficult time this season and I really feel for them, I know how they’re feeling. But I am proud of the last couple of performances. I think the level of effort that the players have put in and the information that they’ve taken on in a short space of time was evident to see in the last two performances. And, we could have won on other days, but the reality is we haven’t been good enough over the course of the season, and we have to accept that.
“It’s been a tough season of course, but you think with those performances and a confident team, you’re probably winning those games pretty comfortably. We went toe-to-toe with a really good team today, a team that could maybe be competing for Play-Off places and even the top two. We can be proud with what we’ve shown in the last couple of games.
“I wanted to come back and help the team on the field. That hasn’t materialised like we all imagined and what we all wanted. It’s been very frustrating because this Club means a lot to me, and I wanted to help them as much as I could. That’s why I’ve put myself forward to take over the last few games because I felt like I could have an impact and effort from the lads, but it wasn’t to be and we have to own up to that."

Ramsey continued with reflection on the 2024/25 campaign.
“At the end of the day, everybody has to look at themselves in the mirror and say that over the course of the season, we haven't been good enough. We have to be big enough to accept that and we need to get it right for next season. It's so important because this Club has got so much potential. It's just about getting that right now and hopefully responding well to this and bouncing back quickly.
“This Club is massive and for us to be taking a step back now, of course that hurts, it’s raw. Hopefully it won’t have too big of an effect if we can get it right to bounce straight back. It will be difficult but it’s all about making sure we can give ourselves the best opportunity to come back up because we should be looking forward and hopefully it’s a situation where it’s one step back, then two steps forward."

City will play one final match this season, with a trip to Carrow Road to play Norwich City on Saturday May 3rd, and Ramsey had a message for the fans following today's game.
“I just want to say a massive thank you to all the fans," Aaron added. "It means a lot to me, it means a lot to the players. They played a huge part today, I’m just gutted we didn’t get to celebrate a win together from the last two performances, I think they’ve been excellent.
"When the players show that level of intensity, that work rate, the fans back you all day long and to get this Club back to where it belongs, the fans are going to play a huge part in that. I’d like to say a massive thank you to them for their support.”
