Warnock: We’ll be trying for that first away win
12th SeptemberThe Bluebirds head to Derby County on Friday night in their first game after the international break.
Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock addressed the press & media at the Vale Resort on Thursday morning.
“We’ve had a bit of an indifferent break,” Neil admitted. “Good for the longer term injuries. Sol (Bamba), Marlon (Pack) and Neil (Etheridge) have done well. However, we’ve had a few other knocks to contend with over the break. It’s not been easy at all.
“I had a team in mind for Derby County and sadly because of this situation it won’t be that. In management you can’t plan too far ahead. Defensively - thankfully we haven’t been decimated with problems.
“We’ve done our homework on them and we’ll be trying for that first away win.”
The Gaffer gave a more in-depth injury update ahead of the trip to Pride Park following the positive news of Etheridge, Bamba and Pack.
“(Matt) Connolly has had an operation on his ankle. Jazz (Richards) has picked up another knock at the minute. He’s been ever so unlucky.
“I was even thinking of playing Sol on Monday in the U23 squad. He’s training fully with us now. He’s still two months in front of where he should be. We want to make sure he’s ready.
“Pack is doing everything again now. I’m hoping Marlon and Bamba will push on again next week.
“Etheridge has trained with the team as well this week. (Alex) Smithies has done alright though - and we’ll make sure Neil is right before considering throwing him in.”
