U23 | Legg: We’ll be looking to improve fast
Cardiff City U23 coach Andy Legg revealed his thoughts at Oakwell Training Complex following the Bluebirds’ loss to Barnsley on Tuesday afternoon.
Shamar Moore’s early penalty sent City ahead, but Elliot Simoes equalised shortly after, before Tommy Willard sent the hosts ahead and Simoes secured a brace before half-time.
“We performed better in the second-half,” began Andy following the final whistle. “We changed the shape and looked much stronger, raised our game and had enough chances to be in the match – but didn’t take them and that’s the difference.
“By making mistakes we got punished and didn’t put away our chances and ultimately, individual errors cost us again, so we’ve got to cut them out.
“The boys have got to work harder in training because if they don’t learn from their errors, the mistakes will keep happening. We’ll work on our game and hopefully improve fast.”
Centre-back Jack Bodenham was named as captain for the first time this season and Andy concluded: “Jack [Bodenham] is a great leader and was also captain a few times last season, before going out on loan to TNS, so it’s nice to see him back.”
