U21 Match Preview | Chippenham Town vs. Cardiff City

The Bluebirds continue their pre-season preparations with a trip to face Chippenham Town on Tuesday evening - 7:30pm kick-off.

The National League South side will host City at their home ground, Hardenhuish Park, with the young Bluebirds having most recently defeated Hereford on Sunday afternoon.

Chippenham Town have already played a number of sides so far in their pre-season campaign, including encounters with both Bristol Rovers and Bristol City XI, both resulting in a defeat for the Wiltshire club.

Most recently, over the weekend they defeated Southern League Division One Central side Cirencester Town, coming away from the Corinium Stadium with a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Jordan Lymn and Matt Jones.

Ahead of the trip to Hardenhuish Park, U21s Manager Darren Purse discussed the fixture:

"I'm expecting another good performance from our boys," began Darren. "Sunday's match was a good test for those who played in a more experienced side, and I'm hoping that even those who didn't play learned from it.

"Having strong foundations at the back gives the boys up front he confidence to perform; it's what happened last time out and I'm hoping for the same thing on Wednesday night. 

"Everybody is looking forward to the season starting. Competitive matches are what it's all about, and we're excited for what it will bring, alongside developing our players further and hopefully getting a few more First Team debuts in the process."
