U21 Match Preview | Cardiff City vs. Millwall
Cardiff City's U21 side host the Lions at Cardiff International Sports Stadium on Tuesday afternoon - 12pm KO.
Entry for this fixture is free for all, with Cardiff City TV also livestreaming the match via the Club's official YouTube channel!
Millwall are currently at the top of the PDL South table, have accrued a total of 38 points from 18 matches played in the campaign so far this season.
Millwall’s U21 has been led by former Cardiff City striker Kevin Nugent since 2017, having previously managed Barnet in League Two earlier that year. As a player, Nugent spent 5 years in the Welsh capital between 1997-2002, and scored 29 goals from 99 league appearances for City in that time.
The Lions have been defeated only twice this term, and are unbeaten in seven matches, when they were defeated 2-0 by Swansea City away from home. Since then, Millwall have drawn four and won three of their fixtures, most recently narrowly defeating Ipswich Town on February 17th.
Level on points with Bristol City but having played one more match at this point, the Lions will be looking to extend their unbeaten streak when they arrive in Leckwith on Tuesday.
U21s Manager Darren Purse previewed the fixture ahead of Tuesday's match against the league leaders, as he looks for a return to winning ways at home.
"We know how Millwall play, and we're not expecting them to change it up on Tuesday," began Darren. "They're in your face, physical and like to go forward with the ball and put you under pressure. From our last meeting earlier this season I hope that the boys have learned what to expect from them when we next face them at home.
"Getting a point last time out was good for our confidence, coming off the back of a couple of defeats and getting a point against Swansea City. It gives us something to build from going into what will be a tough run in towards the end of the season."
