City's U21s earned a 3-1 victory over wigan athletic at the brick community stadium on tuesday afternoon.
The win sees Darren Purse's side claim their first three points of the PDL campaign with a terrific away performance.
Reaction | Darren Purse
After the full-time whistle, U21 head coach Darren Purse said: "The boys were outstanding. Everything that we tried to work on and put right from the game against Sheffield Wednesday, the players did so. It helps when you have the luxury of bringing a few players back after being involved with the First Team.
"To a man, the work rate was exceptional and some of the bits of play was top class. We thoroughly deserved the win.
"They did exactly what we asked of them from a work rate point of view. They've always got quality in possession of the ball, there's no doubting that, but we have to earn the right to win football matches and we did that today. I'm disappointed to concede, but the way we came back and got the third goal, it was a dominant performance for large periods."
Reaction | Cody Twose
Playmaker Cody Twose, who netted the first goal of the game, added: "I thought the boys played really well and dominated most of the game. In the last 20 minutes, we let ourselves down a little bit, but for the most part, it was a good performance and I'm happy to get a goal.
"It's all about the team performance. I latched onto a rebound and put it away. Something I want to add to my game this season is scoring more goals, so it's a good start for me.
"We want to build on this and go on a run, try and get as many wins as we can. We back ourselves as a group to have a good season in the league this year."
Match summary
The young Bluebirds took the lead in the first half through Cody Twose, who netted his first league goal of the season.
Twose previously showed his goalscoring ability in the Nathaniel MG Cup with a fine brace against Afan Lido.
Just before the break, the lead was doubled thanks to Isaac Jefferies, who made an impact off the bench last week against Sheffield Wednesday.
Despite the hosts pulling a goal back in the second period, City remained resilient and added a third goal to seal the victory, coming from Tanatswa Nyakuhwa.

PRE-MATCH | DARREN PURSE
Ahead of the fixture, U21 head coach Darren Purse said: "We will have a few players back that were involved with the First Team against Bristol Rovers. Last week against Sheffield Wednesday was difficult and tough to take. It was a 1-0 defeat and we didn't perform to the levels that we needed to, which was really disappointing, but we have to go again."
