U21 Match Centre | Watford vs. Cardiff City
City's U21s return to action on Thursday evening, taking on Watford in the PL Cup.
The fixture will take place at Gaywood Park on October 17th, with a kick-off time of 7pm.
The young Bluebirds' last fixture in the competition was a 2-2 draw at Ipswich Town.
PRE-MATCH | MATTHEW BLOXHAM
Ahead of the fixture, Matthew Bloxham said: “It’s important to carry on where we left off before the international break, where our performances were really positive. We laid down the foundations for what we want to go on to do next. The boys have been away with various age groups at international level, which is invaluable experience. Now, it’s about coming back to us and getting to work.
“We want to expose the boys with the different pressures that come with every game and we don’t want to let slip any opportunities.”
PRE-MATCH | FREDDIE COOK
Defender Freddie Cook, who has had a stellar start to the campaign, added: “The team was in good form before the international break and we're looking to keep building on that now. Winning games like against Charlton in our last game just shows how good this team actually is and how far we can push ourselves. I was glad to keep a clean sheet in that game as well. That’s one thing that I’m looking to build on this year is helping the team get as many clean sheets as possible.
“Watford will be definitely a tough game. It’s the Premier League Cup and every team wants to get as far as they can in the competition. We’re going to look to take the game to them and build on the Ipswich game, because that was good point away from home.”
