PRE-MATCH | MATTHEW BLOXHAM

Ahead of the fixture, Matthew Bloxham said: "It's always a tough game against Colchester. They're a difficult opposition to play against and they like to play, so we know what to expect from them. Our boys have played on their pitch before and are used to it, so we have to think positively about how we want to play.

"We'll have to keep our concentration and we expect that if we can apply our processes properly, we put ourselves in a good position to get a positive result."

PRE-MATCH | TROY PERRETT

Playmaker Troy Perrett added: "When I came back from injury, it was good to get some minutes with the U18s to build up my match fitness, but being back with the U21s has been great. It was a tough challenge for us in the cup against Aberystwyth, but it was good to get on and score. As a substitute, all you want to do is make an impact and I felt like I did that. Playing in that competition was a great challenge for us, it gave us different experiences to U21s football. We were playing against teams with more experience, so it definitely benefited us.

"Against Bournemouth, I enjoyed playing in that role with two number 10s, it was a new challenge because I hadn't done it much before. I got a lot of the ball, so it was really enjoyable. Colchester is a difficult place to go to, but if we stick to our gameplan, it will give us a platform to get a good result. There are three games left of the calendar year, so if we can get some positive results, it will put us in a great position going into 2025."
