Sheffield United Preview
Cardiff City’s U18 side return to the Professional Development League on Saturday (1/4), as they travel to face Sheffield United at the Sheffield United Academy – 11am kick-off.
U18 Match vs. Charlton Athletic

The young Bluebirds return to league action after a successful international break for many members of the squad.

City U18 side regulars Luey Giles, Dylan Lawlor, Troy Perrett, and Cody Twose were all involved in Wales’ U17s side that qualified for U17s European Championships that will take place in Hungary later this year. Meanwhile, Tanatswa Nyakuhwa and Japhet Matondo both scored for Wales' U19 side in a 2-2 draw against Scotland.

Those four players, along with the rest of City’s international stars, return to PDL South action as the push on towards the end of the season. The Bluebirds are in a three-way race with Charlton Athletic and Millwall for top spot. Steve Jenkins’ side currently sit eleven points behind the Addicks, who currently occupy top spot, but they do have a game in hand.

This weekend sees the U18s travel to Yorkshire to take on Sheffield United. The Blades currently find themselves in second place in the PDL North, and with four games in hand over Barnsley who sit top of the division, and will be looking to jump to the top with their remaining fixtures.

Sheffield United are coming off a 5-1 win in midweek against Wigan Athletic. Braces from Kurtis Havenhand and George Dickinson, along with one for Tavio Ciccarelli, made it a comfortable afternoon for Paul Quinn’s side.
