U18 Match Preview | Millwall vs. Cardiff City
Cardiff City’s U18 side face Millwall U18 in the Professional Development League on Saturday, with a 1pm kick-off at Millwall FC Training Ground.
The Bluebirds are on a six-game winning run, including back-to-back South Wales derby victories, with 24 goals scored and five clean sheets kept.
City come into this fixture on the back of a clean winning sweep of PDL Cup Group A, progressing to the knockouts by comfortably defeating Bristol City, Watford and Swansea City.
The youngsters will be determined to maintain their fine form and continue rising up the Group South standings, which has taken them to third spot so far, five points away from first place Charlton Athletic.
Coach Dane Facey spoke about how the players are looking forward to every game with confidence high in the camp, saying: “We’ve had a good run of results over the past few weeks and it’s positive that we can use those to do well in the upcoming games.
“The quality of players we have has allowed us to move them around more efficiently, the young lads stepping up has been positive and they all seem to have relished those opportunities.
“They’re a great group of young players who want to learn, are engaged, enthusiastic, want to train every day and do their best.
“It’s really important to us that they recognise what hard work looks like and apply themselves, do their best and if they do that then there can be no more asked of them.
“I think they’ve done that really well and as a result, the confidence is high, they’re looking forward to every game because they know they’re competing and have the qualities to dominate teams, so it’s been really exciting watching them develop.”
