U18 Match Preview | Cardiff City vs. Reading
Cardiff City’s U18 side return to the Professional Development League on Tuesday (18/4), as they welcome Reading to Cardiff International Sports Campus – 12pm kick-off.
After suffering defeat on Saturday, the young Bluebirds are back in action and will be hoping to end the season strongly.
The weekend saw Steve Jenkins’ side suffer a 4-1 defeat to PDL North winners Barnsley. A brace for Emmaisa Nzondo, one for Josiah Dyer and an own goal by Morgan Lewis put the Tykes in a strong position. Louis Phillips did pull one back for City in the 90th minute, but it wasn’t to be for the Bluebirds.
The result sees City drop down to fifth place in the PDL South table, and with three games remaining, the highest position they can now finish in is second place.
Tuesday sees the Royals make the trip down the M4 to take on the Bluebirds. They come into this clash one place above City in the league table. Their last game was a 0-0 draw at home to Peterborough United.
In the reverse fixture, it was Reading who came out on top. After Japhet Matondo had bought City level, Reading scored late on to seal all three points with a 2-1 win.
