Cardiff City’s U18 team host Ipswich Town U18 in the Professional Development League at Cardiff International Sports Stadium on Saturday, December 7th – 11am kick-off and free entry!
It will be the first of back-to-back games between the sides, with Round Three of the FA Youth Cup drawing them to play at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, December 14th - 3pm kick-off.
The Opposition
Ipswich Town currently sit fifth in the Professional Development League Group South standings with 22 points, having had six wins, four draws and three losses in their 2019/20 campaign to date.
Second is where the Blues concluded the 2018/19 campaign and at that point, they had 31 more points than they presently have, having competed in 15 more matches.
The Tractor Boys go into Saturday’s encounter following a 6-1 loss to Millwall at Ipswich Town Training Centre on Saturday, November 30th and it came after Town’s four-game unbeaten run.
In the Hot Seat
Adem Atay is currently Ipswich Town’s U18 Manager and has been since June 2009.
The 33-year-old was also a professional footballer for the Blues - starting his career with them in 2002/03 - but never made a senior appearance.
He moved to Turkish team Sanyer during the 2007/08 season and appeared once for them, before signing for another Turkish side Büyükçekmece Tepecikspor in the summer of 2008 - where he did not make a First Team appearance - which marked the end of his playing career.
