City's U18s continue their PDL campaign by hosting Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

The fixture will take place at Cardiff International Sports Campus, kicking off at 1pm.

“We’re all looking forward to getting back to playing after the international break. We’ve had a lot of boys away with their respective nations, and we’re always keen to support them in that part of their journey. So, the early part of the week is all about catching up with them and seeing how they’ve come along, and then it’s about turning our attention back to what’s to come this weekend. It’s been good for the staff and the players to reflect on what we’ve done so far, looking at where we are and the progress we’ve made, but also a time to set new goals going forward.

“It’s been a real positive start to the campaign for us. We always look at things in a number of ways, and first and foremost, we look at the performances. Whilst there’s always room to improve, on the whole, we’ve been pleased with the performances of the group in the league games. Another way we look at it is, are we challenging our players effectively, and I think we’re doing that. There’s been a lot of opportunities for the lads to play U21 football, and some are starting regular for them, and that’s always a positive measure for success.

“We always look to hold the boys accountable for the way they play the game. Performances are two-fold for us; it’s the style of play, but it’s also about a set of behaviours. What the boys have shown this is year is, while they can align the performance to the game model, there’s also a clear set of behaviours. Things like hard work and never say die attitude have always been there. Even when they boys have had setbacks during the season and in games, they never throw the towel in, and they always believe they can turn the game around, and that’s happened on a number of occasions this season.”
