Tija Richardson departs the Bluebirds
Tija Richardson has departed the Bluebirds following the expiration of her contract in the Welsh capital.
A lifelong City fan, the midfielder signed for the Club last summer and went on to make 17 appearances.
She provided invaluable experience on our way to completing a domestic treble in the 2023/24 campaign.
Richardson found the net on five occasions, including twice at Cardiff City Stadium, coming against Barry Town United and Wrexham.
We'd like to thank Tija for her efforts at the Club and wish her all the best for the future.
Reflecting on her time at the Club, she said: "It was great to get the opportunity to play for Cardiff City. The girls were very welcoming and I enjoyed my time playing and being around there.
"Unfortunately for me, I sustained an injury and I couldn’t fulfil the season the way I wanted to. This was really hard for me both mentally and physically. For me, it’s the right decision to leave now and to focus on myself going forward and to get back playing to my full potential.
"Winning the treble with the girls topped the season off, the Club fully deserved everything they have achieved this season and got the reward with all the hard work and graft everyone put in
"I'd like to thank all the staff and players at Cardiff City who have supported and helped me over the season on and off the pitch. They have all been great with me and I wish the Club all the best for this coming season."
