Tanner pre-SWFC | We'll fight until the end
Ahead of Saturday afternoon's Emirates FA Cup clash against Sheffield Wednesday, Ollie Tanner spoke to the press at CCS.
Looking forward to a new cup campaign, the forward began by sharing his thoughts on the opposition, with City returning to Hillsborough following a league victory against the Owls in December.
"It's a big competition," Ollie began. "I think I've said before that you never want to lose games, and in this competition we want to go as far as we can.
"Sheffield Wednesday are a good side, and they played well against us even though we got the three points. Hopefully we'll be going through to the next round following the game on Saturday.
"We've got good players in a good squad, and good wingers too, so I'll have to be patient and take my chances when I get them. I'm coming on at the minute, and looking to work my way into the starting eleven.
"I think that we're doing well. It's hard to judge around Christmastime because it's so hectic, and you're moving up and down the table game after game.
"You've just got to keep going, not looking at the table and just grinding out results, and that's what we did the other week. We're not playing our prettiest football at the minute, but you've got to get the result, and that's what matters."
Discussing the mood within the camp following a busy and productive festive period, Ollie is now excited to kick on into the second half of the season, beginning with Saturday's cup challenge.
"The Manager has installed a winning mentality," said Ollie. "Where we're not going to places to draw and settle for anything other than three points. We'll fight until the end to get the win, as we've shown in recent weeks.
"We're in a really good place. If you look back at where we were this time next year, it wasn't as good.
"There's a feel-good factor about the place, and we're very optimistic about the second half of the season, and hopefully we can push for those Play-Off places."
