Cardiff City Women secured back-to-back Adran Premier titles with a brilliant 4-0 victory over Swansea City.

After a remarkable campaign, City have secured the top spot in Wales’ top-flight for the second consecutive season.

After the full-time whistle, we caught up with head coach Iain Darbyshire, as well as defenders Ffion Price and Hannah Power.

Darbyshire has led City to two league titles, as well as two Bute Energy Welsh Cups.

"I’m incredibly proud," Iain began. "We’ve spoken a lot about the journey we’ve been on as a group. We went a long time without winning trophies. Now, we’ve won quite a lot over the last few years and it’s just a testament to how hard the staff and the players work collectively throughout each season.

"The hard work started in pre-season, to our Champions League campaign, which is the first time we’ve ever done that. To do the same this season and to go and win the title is just incredible and I’m so proud of everyone."

“It was a dominant performance and we got the title wrapped up in the same day, so this was our goal. We knew three points was all we needed, our focus was keeping everyone grounded this week, just three points is all we needed. We’ve been so good all season and I knew this performance was coming, credit to the players, they were fantastic throughout.

"It’s so hard to maintain these levels. We’ve lost one league game in two years, that’s unbelievable and I think the girls should be so proud of themselves. It’s hard over the course of a season to keep that intensity, we had some tough periods throughout but the togetherness of the players really brought us through. Everyone stepped up over the last few weeks and we got the job done.”

Centre-back Power, who has had a stellar campaign for City, added: "Everyone worked their socks off tonight, nobody gave up, we went right up to the final whistle and everyone put everything into it. We're proud of everybody and we're grateful for everyone's performances.

"The support that we've had has been incredible all season. We couldn't be more thankful for them.

"Tonight was just the start, so we're going to stay focused on hopefully winning it all."

Wing-back Price, a lifelong City fan, concluded:  “Tonight is fantastic. To win the title was fantastic but again, we’re not going to take it lightly, we still got two games to go and we want to win both.

"I think a lot of people don’t see the hard work that goes in for people with their jobs, the togetherness in the squad is fantastic and credit to all the girls, everyone put their shift in and today we got what we fully deserved.”
