Rubin Colwill and Joel Colwill...
We are delighted to announce that Rubin Colwill & Joel Colwill have both put pen-to-paper on new contracts with Cardiff City Football Club.

City’s No.27 has signed a new four-year deal, that will run until the summer of 2027.

His younger brother, who made his competitive debut in August against Colchester United, has signed a new agreement until the summer of 2028.

21-year-old Rubin joined the Bluebirds Academy at the age of eight and went on to make his First Team debut in our 3-1 win over Coventry City in February 2021. He has two goals in five appearances in all competitions this season. Rubin is also a full Welsh international with eight appearances and one goal to his name.

Joel, also linked up with City’s Academy at a young age. Just 18-years-old, the young midfielder had a standout pre-season, and was rewarded with his aforementioned debut, and this brand-new Cardiff City deal.

This is the second time this summer two family members have agreed terms with the Bluebirds at the same time as Aaron and Sonny Ramsey also signed forms on the same day in July. The family connections with Cardiff City Football Club run deep.

Speaking after signing his agreement, Rubin said: “We both joined the Club when we were young and have enjoyed every minute of it. It was a no brainer for us to make our stay a bit longer.

“We’re really happy but now we’ve got a lot of hard work to do and prove our worth. Fair to say we’re both looking forward to the challenge.

“Our family have made a lot of sacrifices for us. We’ve trained together since we were young. It’s a really big moment for us and them.

“With my game, I want to kick on from here and show everyone what I can do. We’ve got a good chance this season to do something special and I want to be a big part of that.”

Joel added: “I’ve enjoyed everything about the Club and my time here so far. It’s a proud moment for us all. I want to do as well as I can now and push for a First Team place.

“It’s great to show other youngsters that there is a pathway and that the Club does trust their Academy prospects and give them opportunities.

“Mainly, for me now, it is about pushing on, and trying to break into that First Team squad on a regular basis. I want to help out the team as much as I can.”

We are extremely excited that both Rubin and Joel have extended their time with our Club. Bluebirds through and through!
