Callum Robinson spoke to the press ahead of our Sky Bet Championship clash with Southampton on Saturday.

City’s no. 47 has started the last six consecutive league matches, finding the net against Huddersfield Town and Norwich City.

“I’m really enjoying it,” Robbo began. I missed a lot last season with a hamstring injury in February, then in pre-season, started off really well and scored a few goals. I was buzzing, but then in the Wycombe game just before the season started, I had a little twinge in my lower back.

“I tried to get through that period, but it got too sore and I had to build up from there. In the end, I got myself into the team, worked hard and I’ve enjoyed the last six weeks being back properly with the boys.

“The manager put me in and hopefully I’ve backed that up. I started my first game in the league since February against Huddersfield and that went well. The lads were doing great before that as well.”

Saturday’s opponents, Southampton, currently sit fourth in the Championship table and defeated Bristol City last time out.

The Saints are second in the form table, having recorded four wins and two draws in their last six fixtures.

“It’s going to be a hard game. A lot of passes, short passes, and they have good rotation. It’s going to be a tough game.

“They play a lot of rotations, they’ve got some quality, they’ve got fire power now and he’s got a good squad there. But I believe we can go there and get a result.

"Last night, I had a look, Che Adams is on the bench, they’ve got [Adam] Armstrong, so they’ve got fire power as well as good footballers.

“It’s not going to be easy whatsoever, but I feel like where we are, we shouldn’t fear that, we should go there and go to win.”

City’s last three away fixtures have resulted in seven points, including victories over Huddersfield Town and Preston North End, as well as earning a point at Stoke City.

“Away from home, it’s always tough, but we’ve had some good away performances as well," Robbo added. "I think that Leicester one, when you look now how they’ve went on and won so many games, it’s a bit gutting, because we could have easily maybe won that game.

“Leeds away too, and now they’re flying, so that’s a bit gutting as well. [Crysencio] Summerville was 96+ minutes, he scores. We could have won that 2-1, so we’ve had some good performances away and some good results.

“We need to keep that form up, it’s going to be tough and it’s the third game in a week. It does take a lot out of the bodies, but you just recover, make sure you’re right and we’ll go there and hopefully get a positive result.”
