Robinson pre-Plymouth Argyle | Ready to go again
Ahead of Saturday afternoon’s return to Sky Bet Championship action, Callum Robinson spoke to the press at CCS.
Callum began by sharing his thoughts on the loss of his former teammate and close friend George Baldock, who sadly passed away earlier this month.
“It was a shock,” said Callum. “You never want news like that, especially when it’s one of your closest friends, and you think of all of the good times that you’ve spent together.
"It’s so upsetting for his friends and family, and you don’t know what to say. The only thing we can do is to be there for them as much as we can.”
With the international break providing rest and recovery time for members of the City squad, Robbo reflected on recent performances and now eyes a return to action beginning with our clash against the Pilgrims.
“Starting three games is something that I hadn’t done in a while, so coming through them and getting a rest was good,” Callum continued. “Now I’m looking forward to kicking on with three games again.
“I felt good before and throughout pre-season; as I've said before, I felt that I got my body right, and now I’m just ready to go and enjoy it all again.
“I think that in the last two or three games it has been better. We’ve not gone and scored two, three or four goals in one game, but for all of the stats and chances that we’re creating, we’re getting the ball in the box and I feel that if we’re more clinical then we can get goals.
“Going back to before the break, after we scored, Rubin Colwill and Ollie Tanner had the chances to maybe make it two or three.
“That will definitely change as time goes on. We’re getting in those areas, so as a forward when we’re playing in these games I do feel like a chance will come.”
City’s number 47 singled out praise for Colwill, who has appeared in every competitive fixture for the Bluebirds so far this season.
He concluded: “Rubin has got all of the ability. He’s 6’4, good on the ball and a technical player as if he’s 5’10. He can drive, and for him I think it’s just that last little bit, that final pass and scoring more goals.
“Once that clicks, you’ve got a player who has got everything.”
