Robertson post-Coventry City | We had to fight for it

Interviews
Alex Robertson spoke to the press after scoring in the Bluebirds' 2-2 draw with Coventry City.

"We had to fight for what we were trying to get." Alex began. "Towards the end, they had a bit of momentum, so we had to see the game out in a professional approach.

"We played well; I think even in the last game against QPR, despite the result, we did play well as a team.

"We’re getting back to where we were before, when we were winning and when we went unbeaten in a lot of games. We’re just trying to get back there, and today was one step closer. We should have got the win, I wish we got the win, but we’ve just got to keep fighting for it.

"We’ve got a great team - if you go through our team on paper, and when you watch our games, we’ve got a great squad with great individuals. I think we’re starting to play well together again - we had a little dip, but I think we’ll get back. Day in, day out, we just work hard and you can see in the games that we’re trying to do our best."

The midfielder netted his second Championship goal for the Club at the CBS Arena, striking with pinpoint accuracy from range after being teed up by Rubin Colwill.

He explained: "I got the ball off Rubin, I took a touch and saw that I had a bit of space, so I shot and it went in - so I’m happy for it.

"I said to him inside: ‘Keep finding me on the edge of the box and we’ll get some goals!’ He’s easy to play with; he’s always finding good pockets, good spaces. I can just give him the ball, he can turn and do his thing. Vice versa, when he gets the ball I’ll always be there on the edge of the box, to try and score goals and contribute to the team."

Alex also discussed how easily he has settled into life in South Wales since his summer move from Manchester City.

"I love Cardiff. The Club is great, the boys are great, the city is great. I just want to keep going, keep winning goals and trying to climb the table. That’s our aim.

"I love being at home. The fans are great; hopefully they just keep sticking with us, and we need to keep trying to get results. That what we’re trying our best to do."
