Robbo post-Watford | The performance was full of character

CARDIFF CITY’S DOUBLE GOAL HERO CALLUM ROBINSON SPOKE TO THE PRESS AFTER THE BLUEBIRDS’ 2-1 WIN AWAY AT WATFORD.

“It’s a massive win for us,” Callum began. “To come here to a side who haven’t lost at home all season goes to show what we’ve got in this team. We have to try and push on now. Obviously, we’ve only got two days until the next game against Coventry, but I’m really proud of the group today. We showed a lot of character, and it’s always tough when you’re not winning and to find that confidence, but to come here and get a result against a tough opponent shows the character we’ve got in this side.

“We’ve gone through a tough time, and it has been difficult, but I’m so proud of the boys today. We’ve shown a lot today, and we still have boys back in Cardiff who are going to come back over the next few weeks, and hopefully we can kick on from here.”

Robbo bagged his first goal after 55 seconds, before adding his second before the break, converting from Cian Ashford’s ball across the middle.

“The first one came quite quick to be fair! I wanted to get a shot off early doors, and I was very pleased that it went in. It’s disappointing then to obviously concede because we tried our best to keep a clean sheet today, but again we showed character. When they get it back to a draw, we could have fumbled and go within ourselves, but we didn’t. We found another goal, and we dug deep in that second half.

“Cian was excellent the other day when he came on, and he deserved his start today. There are obviously senior players on the bench today, but I told him before to enjoy the game, but I also told him he deserved to be playing. He proved today why he earned that start. The assist was unbelievable but his defensive work against their left back was really good.”

The games come quick and fast for City, with Coventry City next up on New Year's Day.

“The last few away games, we’ve scored two goals and it’s showing that we will create chances and that we can put them away; now is the time to build on that,” Callum concluded. “We’ve got Coventry City in a couple days, which is crazy, but we will rest up and try to get another win. We haven’t won at home for a while, so it’ll be nice to go back home and get a win.”
