The City boss began by reflecting on our brilliant 3-0 win over Swansea City this past Saturday.

“The boys were excellent. It was a performance that hopefully goes down in history." Omer said. "It’s been an emotional few days after losing my father, a great man, and everyone paying their respects which was brilliant because he deserves that after what he’s done for me over the course of my life.

"The fans, the staff, we’ve all really come together and that 3-0 result hopefully will catapult us further. Our form has been good and we’ve got a whole squad of players that are chomping at the bit and are working hard for each other. We need to continue to push forwards now.

“We knew that Swansea like to dominate the ball. We probably gave them a little bit too much of the ball with their outside centre-backs in the first half. We tweaked it in the first half, towards the last 10-15 minutes. Then, we got in to half time and we spoke about it, showed clips of it and we were all aligned in what our thinking was.

"I think in the second half, we caused more problems and punished them. We kept pressing forwards at the right time with an element of solidity without the ball. We got our rewards. To win 3-0 against our local rivals is a satisfactory result.

“The fans were definitely the twelfth man and it was a very hostile environment for the opposition. I think Swansea felt that. I’ve been saying since I came in here, we have to have an element of togetherness. People go through trials and tribulations, but you always come together at the end and it’s important to show that. We showed that against Swansea. They were fantastic, we’re very thankful to them and long may it continue."

The Bluebirds are now unbeaten in six matches in all competitions, claiming nine points from five league matches as well as defeating Sheffield United in the Emirates FA Cup.

Omer continued: “Even prior to the Swansea game, we should have had more wins than we have, and that’s football. Sometimes it doesn’t happen. You’re dealing with the game, but you’re also dealing with the moments and the situation. When you add all those factors, it can be difficult, but the boys are doing really well.

"They’re working hard, and in the Swansea game they showed that although they’re under pressure and they’re trying to pick up points, they stuck to their guns.

"Robbo (Callum Robinson) scored two great goals, Dimi (Goutas) scored a great goal and the performance in general was superb. The boys already know that we have to keep this up. It's a tough league and if you don’t do those small things, you won’t win games."

Turning attention to Millwall, the Lions are currently 17th in the table and fell to a 1-0 defeat to Hull City last time out.

“They’ve been on a run of poor form at the moment, but The Den is The Den," Omer added. They’ve probably lost an element of physicality that they used to have, but it’s still there and they still want to dominate games with physicality and by being forceful.

"We know what we’re in for when it comes to that. Our boys, all the players, they approach every game like that anyway, so we’ll be ready for it. Like I said, we don’t ever think about anything other than trying to get a win in every game."
