Riza pre-Hull City | Getting fans off their seats

Interviews
Interim manager Omer Riza spoke to the press at Cardiff City Stadium ahead of our clash with Hull City.

"On Monday morning we had our meetings and we spoke. I spoke with staff about certain things that we want, and spoke with players, spoke with the leadership group, just to make sure that we're ready for what's coming at the end of the week. That's to put on a good performance and hopefully get a good win.

"Obviously we've not had the results that we've wanted, so I think there has to be a certain element of change. This week, we're working towards making sure that there's a change at the end of the week.

"It's been really buoyant. The attitude, character and application of the players has been excellent. They've all been front footed in respect of coming for information. The energies have been really high, training sessions have been very motivated. So, I think we're in a good place.

"We've worked really hard this week. We've come off the back of tactical training today, and everyone's aware of what's needed. Hopefully we can approach this game with an attack minded mentality."

The Bluebirds travel to Hull City this weekend, with the Tigers currently sitting in 16th place in the Championship table, and Riza discussed his thinking ahead of the clash.

"I'm an attack minded coach anyway, so I think making sure that we have bodies in areas to be able to attack, and to cause problems to the opposition, not being very stationary, always on the move, an element of control of the game, but looking to really try to hurt the opposition when we've got the ball - that's what we'll be looking for.

"I don't want to divulge too much into what we're going to do. Obviously, we've got Hull coming up at the weekend. We haven't probably got enough bodies in forward areas early enough over the over the last six games; we've probably been timid in our approach to pressing. It still has to have an element of structure to what you're doing when it comes to pressing.

"But hopefully with the way we're approaching the game out of possession, it will give us good numbers going forward and hopefully we'll create more chances and score more goals from that.

"When I was a player, I loved it when you got the fans off their seats. That's what it's about - people coming to watch games, enjoy themselves and feeling like they've had an element of excitement. Hopefully everybody will leave happy on Saturday."
