City boss Omer Riza spoke to the media following the Bluebirds’ 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
The Bluebirds’ strong first half saw them 1-0 up at the break before the visitors equalised in the second period.
“First off I thought we played well, we were quite dominant in the first half.” Omer began. “We created opportunities, we scored a goal, we had a couple more chances as well. It was a very good first half, the front four were energetic, lively, caused problems and we had good stability behind the ball, and we were hoping for more of the same in the second half.
“We didn’t apply enough pressure in the second half, we sat and allowed them to have a bit more time in those midfield areas, they were able to play balls between the lines and it sort of put us on the back foot, which was disappointing.
“Then obviously some forced changes, with Perry Ng having to come off with cramp and not having a natural right back, we had to move players around to try and still remain attacking and also bring attacking players on the pitch to try to win the game. We were unable to do it, so frustrating overall.”

Omer continued: “Until you’re in this position you could never understand how difficult it can be for them on the pitch.
“At the end of the day you’ve got 90 minutes to get the job done and we haven’t done that, so we can’t find excuses, we’ve got to find solutions. We’ve come away with a point and of course we want to come away with three and I think we need to punish the opposition more when we get the opportunities and we haven’t managed to do that. We need to be resilient and not let in goals that we have spoken about and know can happen.
“We’ve come away with a point and we have to move forward now into next week against QPR.”

Isaak Davies netted his second goal since returning from a long-term injury.
Omer concluded: “Isaak was superb, he worked hard in that wide area, and at the moment we are at with him I think the idea is keep it simple with the qualities that he’s got. He’s got energy, he’s got intensity, he’s got aggression and he’s coming back from injury. He wants to play and scored again, so I think it was good.
“I thought Ash [Cian Ashford] was excellent today in the ten. I think Will Alves had a good go today, he gave us good moments. It was pleasing, I was excited about it before the game and they have done well. They’re all young still, they still have a lot to learn but the future looks bright for the club in that respect.”
