The Bluebirds took an early lead through Alex Robertson, before battling well in the second half with ten men to record a point.

“I think we dominated the first half, had control,” Omer began. “My only question for the players was could we have punished them a little more, taken our opportunities and put the game to bed, which we could have done.

"In the second half, the goal we conceded was cheap. We get muscled off the ball too easily and then it’s rebounded and scored. When we’ve had such a good first half and worked hard, to then do that is disappointing. We get the red, but the resilience the players showed in the second half to fight, stay in the game and create big opportunities to score is a credit to them. It’s a big point.

“It’s all going to be about how consistently we can do it, and can we show the intensity levels game in and game out, or whether we’ve got the right attitude and character to keep pushing. We created enough today to win the game and then we got punished through things that can happen and lead to goals during games in the second half.

"We have to move forward, but we’ve picked up four points from a possible six in two difficult games, and we have to move forward with positive minds.”

The draw means City have picked up four points in the last two league games, with Middlesbrough to come over the weekend.

Omer continued: “There have been games where we’ve spoken about where we haven't quite shown enough. The Oxford game was even for most of the first half, but we let the goal in and then didn’t show enough in the second half to get anything out of the game.

"The other games away from home recently have been good, and I like to think the players have got the bit between their teeth a little bit now and we can keep putting in good performances.”

The manager ended by providing fitness updates on Isaak Davies and Kion Etete.

“Isaak has been training with the squad over the last few days in the technical drills, but he hasn’t been involved too much in the duelling. He’s looking sharp, looking strong, but he’s still a little bit away from being involved in games, but he’s there at least. We’re still looking at mid to late January until we see Isaak back.

“Kion is back now. He picked up an illness which sort of set him back, but he played in the U21 game, and he trained again yesterday with us. He’s played a game now, he’s on the grass training, and he could be potentially up for selection against Middlesbrough.”
