Ralls post-Stoke City | We wanted a response

Interviews
Following the final whistle, the City skipper shared his thoughts pitchside at the Bet365 Stadium.

“I thought that we played really well,” Ralls began. “We wanted a response after Wednesday night and that’s really positive, but just in the final moment it just went against us.

“It’s really gutting and hard to take, but we're positive with the performance and it’s a point, we move on now to Saturday.

“We owed the fans a performance and I think we gave them that, it’s just so annoying that we couldn’t get that one over the line.

“Like I said, I thought it was worth the three points, but it just didn’t quite happen for us today.”

Discussing the response from his teammates following defeat in midweek, Rallsy continued:

“We had a talk during the week and we wanted a response today straight from the get go. The boys set the standards and all in all it was a good performance, so it’s frustrating that we couldn’t get the three points.

“We can’t feel sorry for ourselves because we’ve let in a goal right at the end, we’ve got to take that performance and that standard onwards."

Concluding, Joe praised the City faithful who travelled to back to the Bluebirds in Stoke, with over 800 in the away end on Saturday afternoon.

“The supporters were brilliant, I’m just glad that they saw a Cardiff City performance that they’re proud of and one that represents them as a football club and as a group of supporters.

“I’m glad that we gave them that today, some good moments in there and a couple of good goals. Like I said, it’s disappointing not to get the three points but hopefully we’ve sent them home happy with what they’ve seen from their team, and that’s something we want to see more of going forwards.”
