Ralls post-Coventry City | The response was magnificent
Joe Ralls spoke to the press after captaining the bluebirds to a hard-fought win at the coventry building society arena.
"We know that we needed a response." Rallsy began. "We've had a really disappointing couple of performances and results, so we came here today knowing that we had to put a performance in.
"I thought the team had a really good performance; I'm really happy with how we played. We had that little bit of luck, of course, with the two goals, but we created other chances as well.
"They got their goal, which was disappointing, but I thought the response after that was magnificent. We're really happy with the performance and really happy with the result.
"We got our goals in the end from different circumstances, but we'll take it all day long. It's a massive three points for us. We had great support from the fans, and it's great to send them home happy."
Joe was full of praise for his City teammates, who executed a disciplined overall performance before digging in for some last-ditch defending in the final minutes.
"I thought the gameplan worked really well today. We tried to stop them from coming through centrally - that's a big strength of theirs. We tried to force them out wide, and when they're putting balls into the box, those two [Nat Phillips and Dimi Goutas] are animals at defendings those deliveries.
"I thought we had really good spells in the game where we looked really comfortable. Coventry are obviously a good side, so we knew, leading towards the end of the game, that they were going to be throwing everything at it.
"The boys stood firm - brilliant blocks, clearances and headers in those final five or ten minutes. You always appreciate those victories, when you have to hold out like that. The boys at the back did their job again today, and it's a great win."
