The Bluebirds triumph...

Pre-Wrexham | Molly Kehoe

Women
We caught up with City playmaker Molly Kehoe ahead of the Bluebirds' Adran Trophy clash against Wrexham this Sunday.

The fixture will be Iain Darbyshire's side's first of 2024, having had a successful year in 2023, which included winning the Adran Premier and the Bute Energy Welsh Cup.

"We're really excited for Sunday's game," Molly began. "We want to keep up our positive results that we had in 2023 and keep winning games.

"We've played Wrexham already this season and have beaten them, so they're going to want to come out and beat us this time. I think it'll be a good game, but as long as we keep playing as we have been playing, I think we'll be able to get a result.

"That being said, we shouldn't underestimate them at all, anything can happen in football. They could come with a whole different mindset, we could play badly on the day, but as long as we keep to the standards that we've been playing at, we'll be ok."

Molly Kehoe celebrates scoring for Cardiff City Women

In the previous meeting with Wrexham, City claimed a 3-0 win, largely thanks to a brilliant brace from Kehoe, who was named Player of the Match.

The Bluebirds attacker continued: "It was nice to score those two goals and I hope to score again this weekend. It wasn't long after I joined, so it felt really good.

"It was hard to come to a new league and not really knowing much about it, but it also meant that the opposition didn't really know much about me either, so I proved myself and those goals definitely gave me a lot of confidence.

"My teammates were and still are really helpful with that. I couldn't score the goals without them and when I have my head down, they're always there to pick me up, so they've been really good."

This season is Molly's first taste of the Adran Trophy, having joined the Bluebirds in the summer. City have just missed out on winning the competition in the last two seasons with narrow defeats in both finals.

"I've heard a few people in the squad talking about it and obviously, there's disappointment that the Club have lost in the last two finals, but we're looking to put it right and win everything this season.

"With it being my first season and my first time playing in these competitions, I want to win. I think it'll be great for me to come to Wales from the Cayman Islands and win as much as I can."
