PRE-MATCH | IAIN DARBYSHIRE
Ahead of the fixture, head coach Iain Darbyshire said: "We're looking forward to a big challenge against The New Saints this weekend. They’ve been in really good form and beat us in the Adran Trophy last time out and we’ll of course be out there looking to put that right.
"I think we showed glimpses before the red card in that game that we can cause them problems and that will be the objective this weekend. We’re looking to start 2025 with a positive result that we can build on in the coming weeks."
PRE-MATCH | FFION PRICE
Wing-back Ffion Price added: "Sunday was a tough result to take and it truly reflects the competitiveness of the league this year. Credit to Briton Ferry, they are on a great run. We have reflected on our performance and are eager to put things right on Sunday. We are looking forward to the challenge and raring to start off the new year in a positive way.
"It’s been tough, but the girls have shown resilience and character given the circumstances. We have worked hard over the festive period and hoping to showcase that on Sunday. We’re looking to bounce back and put in performances that we know we are capable and proud of.
[On being the top scorer] "I’m not sure how long it will last but my main focus is the team and three points. It’s the players around me who get me into these goal scoring positions. Without them and their belief in me, I wouldn’t be in this fortunate position."
OPPOSITION FOCUS | THE NEW SAINTS
The New Saints currently sit top of the Adran Premier, with a record of seven wins, two draws and one loss, with the solitary defeat coming to the Bluebirds back in September at Cardiff City Stadium.
Second half goals from Lisa Owen and Laura Curnock were enough to give City all three points the last time these teams played in league football.
In the Saints' last game, they hosted Swansea City and claimed a 1-0 victory thanks to a late goal from Lexi Jones.
