PRE-MATCH | IAIN DARBYSHIRE
Ahead of the fixture, head coach Iain Darbyshire said: "I'm looking forward to facing The New Saints. They're in great form and are showing all the attributes needed to compete for trophies this season, so it'll be a good test for us. It'll be a great measure of where we are.
"It's really important to have some momentum going into 2025. We want to be top of the table and in the next round of the Adran Trophy come the end of the calendar year and we'll do everything we can to do that. I think it's been one of the most challenging pre-seasons and seasons we've had since being at the Club due to the turnover of players that we had, but we're getting to a place now where we're more familiar, we're playing good football and we've got that feel good factor. We're only going to get better going forward."
SEASON SO FAR | ADRAN TROPHY
City were successful in the competition last season as part of winning a domestic treble, notably recording a 5-1 victory over Swansea City in the Final at the SDM Glass Stadium in Bridgend.
This season’s defence of the Adran Trophy began at the last 16 stage, where the Bluebirds travelled to Connah’s Quay Nomads. Laura Curnock’s first half goal, along with Nieve Jenkins’ first goal for the Club were enough to record a 2-1 win and book a place in the next round.
Opponents The New Saints progressed with a 6-1 win at Caldicot Town and are enjoying an impressive season in the Adran Premier.
In the league meeting between the two sides at Cardiff City Stadium earlier this campaign, City claimed a 2-0 victory, with goals from Lisa Owen and Curnock.
