Ahead of the fixture, head coach Iain Darbyshire said: “I'm looking forward to the challenge of playing Connah’s Quay Nomads this weekend. I know Jordan is a really good coach and they will be set up really well.

"They’ve been close to challenging for promotion into our league over the past few seasons so we know it’s going to be a difficult game. It’s another opportunity for us to give players minutes for some of the younger players, especially those we think that can step up to the Senior Team.

"There’s going to be lots of opportunities moving forward and this is their chance to make sure they develop the way we want them to develop."

City playmaker Kerry Walklett added: “Sunday's win just felt really free and almost felt like the penny dropped on the pitch. Our shoulders and tails were up and we all had such fluidity on the pitch and was really confident and felt like everything worked. We created a lot of chances, which is something we’ve been working on, but I definitely felt on the pitch that everyone had their best game since I’ve been here.

“We were speaking this week about not being complacent. But what’s great about the cup is you get those unexpected results. We know it’s going to be a tough game, and they’re going to try to make it tough for us to break down. Although we’re playing a team in the league below, it’s a big occasion.”
