The Bluebirds' first home match of the 2024/25 season will be against Cardiff Metropolitan University on Sunday afternoon.

Iain Darbyshire
PRE-MATCH | IAIN DARBYSHIRE

Ahead of Sunday's fixture, head coach Iain Darbyshire said: "I am really looking forward to returning to Cardiff International Sports Campus for the first time this season and seeing our fantastic fans, who play a huge part for us. We will be looking to put in a positive performance for them and build on what was a big result for us on the opening day against Wrexham.

"We know Cardiff Met played very well last weekend and we will not be taking them lightly."

Shannon Evans
PRE-MATCH | SHANNON EVANS

Centre-back Shannon Evans, who was included in the Adran Leagues Team of the Week for her performance against Wrexham last time out, added: “I'm really pleased with how things are going, it’s always great to get your first win in the opening game. We didn't play as well as we’re capable of against Wrexham, but it was good for us as a team to get those two goals and three points.

“Coming into the starting 11, I felt like I needed to go out there and do well to hopefully keep my place in the side. Wrexham is probably one of the hardest games you can start with. To win and keep a clean sheet was brilliant.

“We've got a couple of tough games coming up now and I don’t think you can underestimate any team in the league. We have to keep building momentum, being hard to beat and keep winning games.”

Cardiff Met
OPPOSITION FOCUS

The Archers began their campaign last weekend with a clash against Swansea City at Cyncoed Campus.

Met took the lead inside the first five minutes, as Chelsea Cochrane found the net.

Despite their positive start, the Swans took the three points with a 2-1 win, thanks to goals from Danielle Broadhurst and Stacey John-Davis.

Last season, the side finished 6th in the division, finishing six points behind The New Saints, who won the Plate Conference in Phase Two.

In the meetings between the two sides in 2023/24, City claimed 2-0 and 3-0 victories.
