Hollie Smith and Seren Watkins celebrate

Pre-Aberystwyth Town | Hollie Smith

Women
Ahead of our Adran Premier clash with Aberystwyth Town on Sunday, we caught up with defender Hollie Smith.

The City centre-back has been in fine form of late, notably finding the net in our last clash with the Seasiders, a 3-0 win to open Phase Two.

"It's nice to have good run in the team," Hollie began. "I'm comfortable with all the girls and we really try to do our best for each other in every game.

"I feel like I'm playing well at the moment and I'm enjoying my football. We're getting positive results as a squad and that's giving us a boost every week."

Sunday's opponents currently occupy the fourth spot in the Adran Premier table, having secured their place in the top four on the final day of Phase One.

After a defeat to the Bluebirds a fortnight ago, their last fixture against Swansea City was postponed, as they return to action this weekend.

Hollie continued: "Every game we play against Aberystwyth, they give us a physical battle. They make it difficult for us, but we need to be focused, play our football and try not to get dragged into a battle.

"When we play away, we just take it like a home game, we don't feel any different. We've played most of these teams a few times already this season, so we're used to their grounds and we know what to expect.

The Bluebirds head into this weekend's fixture in fine form, having produced a brilliant performance last Sunday.

Iain Darbyshire's side claimed a 6-1 victory over Wrexham to continue a positive start to Phase Two.

"We were disappointed with how we ended Phase One with a defeat to Swansea," Hollie added. "But, to start Phase Two the way we have is a massive positive for us.

"It's massive not to underestimate Aberystwyth on Sunday. They were the first team to take points off us this season and they've taken points off Swansea as well, so they are capable of beating anyone in this league.

"But, we have momentum going into the final four games and hopefully, we can finish off the job."
