Ng post-Preston | Another good performance at home

Interviews
Perry Ng spoke to the press following the Bluebirds’ 0-0 draw with Preston North End at Cardiff City Stadium.

"It was a frustrating game in the end,” he began. “I think it was another good performance at home, a clean sheet as well, so we can’t really complain.

“They’ve kept the most clean sheets I've ever seen, so they’re a hard team to break down. I thought we got into some good areas today, but we just lacked a bit at times.

“The tempo was a bit slow in moments, but on another day that could have been two or three nil. Our style of play is good, as you can see, but we just need that little bit of luck in the end.

“Last week was horrible; we dropped below our standards, and it was a disappointing result considering how well we’ve been performing recently. It was a good performance today, and we just need to get those three points now on Tuesday.”

With a new playing style which has seen the Bluebirds revert to a back four this season, Perry is relishing his new role at centre-back alongside Cédric Kipré.

"I love it,” he explained. “Last year, I said it is a position that I feel I can excel in, and I'm really enjoying it next to Cédric, who is a very good player.

“I think we are both quite comfortable on the ball, so it makes it easier for us to play out from the back, and I think it takes the pressure off us defensively, as well.

“Now, we can win second balls and be calm, and keep the attacks moving, which is good.”

The 26-year-old also commented on debutant Niels Nkounkou, with the defender excited to play alongside our newest recruit.

He said: “I thought Niels did well, and was unlucky not to score at the end there. He’s another good signing, he’s fitted in well, and I'm looking forward to working with him.”
