WIGAN REACTION | MURPHY
“We knew it was going to be the toughest out of all three games,” began Josh Murphy as he reflected at the end of a busy week that saw the Bluebirds extend their unbeaten run to seven league matches.
Having drawn at home against Wigan Athletic on Saturday afternoon, the in-form winger - with two goals scored in as many appearances - is feeling positive following a series of positive results that has seen City begin to close the gap on the top six of the league table.
“Being back at home, we dug in deep and got a result in the end. Seven points out of nine isn’t too bad and if that was said at the start of the week, everyone would want it because the Championship is a difficult league. It can be relentless.
“The match was scrappy and if we’d had it our own way, we’d have played a bit more football, but Wigan came in with a game plan and made it difficult for us which was frustrating.”
With City now in touching distance of a Play-Off spot, Murphy relishes the chance for the side to recover in the week as they turn their attention to the Bluebirds' next fixture: a trip the bet365 Stadium to face Stoke City on Saturday, February 22nd.
“I’m enjoying my football at the moment,” he continued. “I think everyone can see that and long may it can continue.
“Everyone’s playing with confidence at the moment and we’re on a bit of a roll so we just need to keep that going. We’re moving on with our campaign with another big game against Stoke City on Saturday.
“Coming off the back of our recent form we’ll be thriving in the build-up to Saturday’s match. We’re only three points off the Play-Offs now so we’ll want to keep the momentum going.
“It’ll be good to get time during the week to rest without having a midweek fixture. Everything we do will be with the trip to Stoke in mind as we look for another positive result.”
