Michael Chopra visits hospitality for the Severnside derby

Michael Chopra
In our Severnside derby clash against Bristol City on Saturday, Michael Chopra visited hospitality at Cardiff City Stadium.

The former City striker had a fantastic record against the Robins, including a 6-0 victory at Ashton Gate and producing the ‘hot boot’ celebration at CCS in a 3-0 win in 2009.

On Saturday, Michael had a Q+A session with fans in the Captains Lounge, Ricoh Suite and the Legends Stage, reminiscing on his time in a Bluebirds shirt.

Commenting on his visit to CCS, he said: “It’s brilliant to be back, really exciting. I love coming back to the stadium, love coming back to watch the team play because I have some great memories when I played here. People always ask me about the main games I played in when I was at Cardiff City and you look at the Swansea City and Bristol City games, they’re the ones you want to play in. I always had a really good knack of scoring against Bristol City, whether it was in Cardiff or at Ashton Gate. There were a lot of high-scoring games and I have some great memories against them.

“That celebration [hot boot] was just off the cuff. I had a very good pre-season that year and I was flying. I had scored a lot of goals at the start of that season, so when I scored the goal against Bristol City, something just came to me to take my boot off and touching it like it was on fire. When you speak to the fans and about our games against Bristol City, they always remember that celebration, so it’s nice that I’ve done something that sticks in their mind.”
