Match Report: Cardiff City FC Women 10-0 Llandudno Ladies
Cardiff City FC Women comfortably defeated Llandudno Ladies 10-0 at Cardiff International Sports Stadium in the Welsh Premier Women’s League - to remain top of the table.
Kate Jeremiah and Alana Murphy netted a hat-trick each, Zoe Atkins scored a brace, while Siobhan Walsh and Lisa Owen slotted a goal apiece.
Iain Darbyshire made six changes from the 7-0 win at Llandudno last week in cup action, as Amelia Forkings, Daisy Connolly, Sophie Norman, Cerys Pinchard, Zoe Atkins and Jasmine Simpson entered the starting line-up.
The Bluebirds got off to a strong start and opened the scoring after five minutes, the same time as Jeremiah’s opener at the Seasiders last Sunday. Striker Atkins – who was making her first competitive appearance of the season – hammered home from midfielder Norman’s through-ball.
Keen to impress, 27-year-old Atkins doubled City’s lead and sealed a brace with seven minutes of the opening 45 remaining – by finishing past Rebecca Elliott from an acute angle.
After the interval, it took the hosts just two minutes to add a third, as in-form Jeremiah charged through on goal and coolly finished into the bottom corner.
The threatening Jeremiah took a further five minutes to secure a brace and her side’s fourth by replicating her first – utilising her pace to speed through and finish past goalkeeper Elliott again. Shortly after, Captain Siobhan Walsh stepped up to score Cardiff City’s fifth and her second of the campaign – tapping home from close range.
The Bluebirds were playing some exciting stuff in their first home game of the season - and delighted the watching crowd with a sixth goal through right-back Lisa Owen after 64 minutes. The pacey defender sped into the area before composedly slotting the ball home to secure her first goal of the 2019/20 campaign.
Determined forward Alana Murphy, who came on as a substitute on the hour mark, made it 7-0 eight minutes after entering play by turning within the area and beautifully finishing into the bottom corner. It took forward Murphy just four more minutes to score a brace – as she superbly hammered across goal from the box’s inside right and into the left corner.
A tough afternoon for the Seasiders was made even more difficult when they were reduced to ten players with 15 minutes of the 90 remaining - Stacey Tradewell seeing a second yellow card.
Jeremiah’s hat-trick followed two minutes later. The 25-year-old ruthlessly fired home to bag her second consecutive trio against Llandudno. After 81 minutes, 22-year-old Murphy joined Jeremiah one three goals for the afternoon by terrifically looping the ball over Elliott to secure the hosts’ tenth.
It was another fine outing for City - who are yet to concede this season after three matches, scoring 20 goals in the process.
