Match Report | Cardiff City 1-3 Hull City
Cardiff City fell to a 3-1 defeat against Hull City at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
With Erol Bulut naming an unchanged side to the one who beat Coventry City 2-1 on Monday, a first half double from Fabio Carvalho gave the Tigers a 2-0 lead at half time.
Karlan Grant halved the deficit after the break, which was cancelled out by a Jaden Philogene goal to give the visitors all three points.
The opening exchanges saw Hull enjoy possession, but the first efforts fell to the Bluebirds. Jamilu Collins' shot was parried away by Ryan Allsop, before an excellent team move found Bowler in space on the right, but was unable to find Grant in the box.
Meanwhile, the visitors came close with attempts of their own, with Ethan Horvath on alert to keep out Abdulkadir Ömür from close range in the 26th and 31st minute to keep the scores level.
However, Hull found the opener through loanee Fabio Carvalho with left footed volley from a corner.
Carvalho got his and Hull’s second on the stroke of half time, receiving the ball from Ozan Tufan and slotting the ball low into the corner.
The Bluebirds bounced back well after the break, with Perry Ng almost adding to his season’s tally with a header from a Joe Ralls corner.
After being found by Collins, Grant beat Regan Slater by cutting inside on his right foot and drilling into Ryan Allsop’s near post, netting for the hosts.
Shortly after, City found themselves in a two goal deficit after a mix up saw Philogene through on goal, restoring a two-goal advantage.
Up next for Cardiff City is a trip to St. Andrews to face Birmingham City on Wednesday, 10th April.
