Cardiff City overcame Hull City at CCS on Tuesday evening. The victory, courtesy of Callum Robinson’s second half goal, saw City leapfrog the visitors on the Sky Bet Championship table.

Despite it being a cagey half which saw limited chances for either team, City had the better of the opportunities in the first period.
After twenty minutes Robinson released his first effort on goal, combining well with Andy Rinomhota before dragging his shot wide of the post.
The Bluebirds’ best opportunity of the half arrived in added time, as City’s bright spark Cian Ashford burst down the right flank before setting it back for Yousef Salech, whose shot was parried away by Ivor Pandur.
The teams went in at the break with the score goalless.
City came out of the blocks in the second half, as Ashford earned a free kick on the edge of the box in the opening stages. Perry Ng’s strike from the dead ball forced Pandur into an impressive save.

In typical fashion, City’s quick start to the second half resulted in the deadlock being broken, as they took the lead in the 52nd minute. Chris Willock crossed into the box before the ball fell for Robinson in the centre, who volleyed home his 12th of the season to give the Bluebirds the lead.
As the half progressed the visitors began to attack City’s backline more convincingly. In the 72th minute Abu Kamara broke away following a corner, however the move finished with João Pedro being unable to get on the end of the cross.
The Tigers’ best opportunity of the match arrived with five minutes left of the 90, as Kamara crossed in to Alfie Jones, who headed straight into the arms of Ethan Horvath from six yards out.
Despite late pressure the Bluebirds held out to earn all three points, extending their unbeaten home record to six matches.
