Match Report | Cardiff City 0-0 Blackburn Rovers
Cardiff City drew 0-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday evening at CCS.
Despite a spirited display, the Bluebirds had to settle for a point. A high energy first half saw the Bluebirds have a lot of the ball and keep Blackburn to few chances, with Karlan Grant and Rubin Colwill leading an energetic City press.
The opening chance of the game fell the way of Nat Phillips who met a Ryan Wintle corner in the 13th minute forcing a routine hold by Rovers 'keeper Aynsley Pears.
Dominic Hyam was the first to test the Bluebirds' defence on the 16th minute with a strike from 30 yards which sailed high and wide.
An electric Grant was presented with the best chance of the half 10 minutes later when he ran onto a Manolis Siopis through ball before beating his man and having his one-on-one effort blocked by Pears at the near post.
City kept their energy going into the second half with Josh Bowler asking immediate questions of the Rovers defence, as he drove into the box on 49 minutes forcing a smart low stop by Pears.
From the following corner, Grant lashed a powerful effort in from outside the box which was tipped over the bar.
Three minutes later, an instrumental Colwill weaved past the Blackburn Rovers defence before cutting the ball back to Kion Etete who saw his close range shot parried wide.
Just after, Grant whistled a free-kick just over the bar from 25 yards, coming inches away from a spectacular opener.
The visitors had their first big chance of the game just past the hour mark, when Tyrhys Dolan found himself with space deep inside the box after a goalmouth scramble, however a big stop by an alert Ethan Horvath kept the game level.
City found themselves on the wrong side of a series of close offside calls in the last 15 minutes, concluding with neither team managed to find a winner, as a resolute defensive display keeping the visitors' chances to a minimum.
