OPPOSITION FOCUS | SHELBOURNE
Shelbourne are the current champions of the SSE Airtricity Women’s National League, having won the title for the third time in their history.
The race for top spot was fiercely contested, with Shelbourne finishing just two points above Athlone Town and four points above both Peaumont United and Wexford Youths.
The side ensured they won Republic of Ireland’s top flight back-to-back, having also won the title in 2022 by a single point, with Peaumont United finishing second.
Captain Pearl Slattery provides Shelbourne with invaluable experience, having represented the club since 2015.
The defender also had spells at college level in the USA with Hutchinson Blue Dragons and Clayton State Lakers.
OPPOSITION FOCUS | LAST TIME OUT
In the Semi-Final in Group 8 of the first qualifying round, Shelbourne lost out to Glasgow City.
In the first half, Shelbourne were defensively disciplined and had chances on the counter-attack.
However, the Scottish Women’s Premier League outfit showed their quality in the second period to claim victory.
Brenna Lovera gave Glasgow City the lead ten minutes into the second half, with Lauren Davidson netting just after the hour-mark.
