Match Preview | Sheffield Wednesday vs. Cardiff City
Cardiff City travel to Hillsborough to take on Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday afternoon, 3pm KO.
OPPOSITION FOCUS | IN THE DUGOUT
Sheffield Wednesday’s manager is Danny Röhl, who was appointed back in October, following the departure of previous boss Xisco Muñoz.
The German began his coaching career at RB Leipzig, later working for the likes of Southampton and Bayern Munich.
The 34-year-old has also had experience as an assistant manager of the German national team.
Since taking over the Owls, the side have won four, drawn one and lost six of his 11 matches in the position.
OPPOSITION FOCUS | SEASON SO FAR
The Owls have had a disappointing campaign so far, currently sitting 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship table, having won just four of their 22 matches played.
The side are the lowest scorers in the division this season, having netted just 16 league goals this term, an average of 0.73 per game.
Röhl will take encouragement from their most recent result however, as they secured a 2-1 win over Queens Park Rangers, with a late winner from Anthony Musaba.
Their record at Hillsborough sees them ranked 19th in the home table, having picked up 12 points on home soil.
OPPOSITION FOCUS | KEY PLAYER
A positive for the Owls this season has been the form of winger Musaba, who joined the club in August.
The Dutchman has previously had permanent spells at NEC Nijmegen and AS Monaco, whilst also gaining experience on loan with Cercle Brugge, Heerenveen and Metz.
Musaba has netted four goals in all competitions this season, whilst also contributing with two assists.
The winger has made a habit of popping up with late goals, recently scoring 95th minute winners against both Stoke City and QPR.
CLUB CONNECTION | WILL VAULKS
This weekend could see the Bluebirds face off against former City midfielder Will Vaulks.
The 30-year-old moved to the Welsh capital from Rotherham United in 2016, going on to make over 100 league appearances for the Club and scoring 11 goals.
Vaulks also has experience at international level, having represented Wales on seven occasions.
Moving to Sheffield Wednesday in June 2022, he was part of the side that achieved League One Play-Off glory at the end of last season.
