QPR’s manager is Martí Cifuentes, who was appointed in October 2023.

He began his coaching career in the youth setup of CE Sabadell before stepping up to assistant manager of the first team.

The Spaniard went on to have brief spells in both Ajax and Millwall’s youth setups before returning to his homeland in Terrassa FC’s academy.

His first senior management role come at UE Rubí, where he was promoted from youth team coach to first team boss.

Cifuentes went on to have spells in charge of Sant Andreu, CE L’Hospitalet, AIK, Sandefjord, Aalborg BK and Hammarby, earning him a move to QPR.

Since taking charge at the R’s, Cifuentes has maintained QPR’s Championship status, with a win percentage of 34.21%, winning 26 games, drawing 21 and losing 29.

The hosts head into this weekend’s contest sat 15th in the Sky Bet Championship.

The R’s have struggled recently without a win in six, having last taken three points back in February following a 4-0 home win against Derby County.

Cifuentes will be determined to tighten things up at the back this weekend, with his side recording just two clean sheets in 2025.

Last time out, the side suffered a 3-1 defeat to Stoke City. Goals courtesy of Bae Jun-Ho, Junior Tchamadeu and Million Manhoef were enough to secure victory for the Potters despite a consolation goal by QPR’s Yang Min-Hyeok.

LAST TIME OUT | BLUEBIRDS AT LOFTUS ROAD

The last time the Bluebirds made the trip to London to face QPR was on New Years Day in 2024.

City started 2024 on the front foot as Dimitrios Goutas fired the Bluebirds ahead in the 16th minute, guiding Joe Ralls corner into the back of the net.

Paul Smyth managed to draw the hosts level early in the second half, but City’s set pieces proved too strong for Cifuentes side, as Perry Ng headed home from another corner to take all three points back to the Welsh capital.

CLUB CONNECTION | JAY BOTHROYD

Forward Jay Bothroyd joined the Bluebirds from Wolverhampton Wanderers back in 2008.

Bothroyd went on to becoming an imposing goal scoring figure in City’s frontline, netting double figures in all three seasons at the club and forming a formidable partnership with striker Michael Chopra.

In his final season at the club, the striker impressed with 27 goal contributions in 37 Championship games, earning him a move to newly promoted side QPR.

He opened his account at the R’s in a 3-1 defeat away to Tottenham Hotspur and followed up with another goal in his next game against eventual Premier League champions Manchester City.

The striker went on to make 25 appearances for QPR before moving to Thailand.
