OPPOSITION FOCUS | IN THE DUGOUT
Swansea City’s manager is Michael Duff, who was appointed in June 2023, following the departure of Russell Martin to Southampton.
During his playing career, the former centre-back amassed 300 league appearances for Cheltenham Town, before departing for Burnley in 2004.
With the Clarets, Duff earned promotion to the Premier League on three occasions in 2009, 2014 and 2016.
After retiring from playing, Duff coached Burnley’s U18 side and later became head coach of the U23 squad, before also working with the first team.
In September 2018, Duff became manager of his former club, Cheltenham Town, leading the club to the League Two title in 2021.
Also having a spell at Barnsley, Duff guided the Tykes to the League One play-off final last season, where his side were defeated by Sheffield Wednesday.
OPPOSITION FOCUS | KEY PLAYER
This summer, the Swans made the acquisition of striker Jerry Yates from Blackpool.
The 26-year-old netted 42 league goals in 124 appearances during a three-year spell with the Tangerines.
In the Championship last season, Yates found the net on 14 occasions, also contributing with two assists.
Since making the move to Swansea City, the striker has scored two goals in five appearances.
OPPOSITION FOCUS | SEASON SO FAR
The Swans have amassed two points in their opening five matches, with boss Duff searching for his first league win.
His side started the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Birmingham City, before falling to a 3-2 defeat to West Bromwich Albion.
A 1-1 draw against Coventry City followed, before following up with a 2-1 loss at Preston North End.
Last time out, the Swans faced rivals Bristol City, falling to a 2-1 defeat at the Swansea.com Stadium.
CITY FLASHBACK | HAWORTH NETS DERBY WINNER
The Bluebirds travelled to the Swans’ Vetch Field in March 1997 on a positive run, having picked up four wins in their last six.
A strong squad included the likes of Jason Perry, Scott Young and Carl Dale, who all made over 200 league appearances for the Club.
City made a brilliant start, finding the net in the 17th minute through Simon Haworth.
The striker netted for his hometown club in the South Wales derby, having come through the youth ranks at the Club.
Haworth’s goal was enough for the Bluebirds to claim a valuable three points and derby victory.
