OPPOSITION FOCUS | IN THE DUGOUT

Stoke City’s manager is Mark Robins, who was appointed in January this year following the departure of Narcís Pèlach

In his playing career, he came through the Manchester United academy and went on to represent the Red Devils as well as the likes of Leicester City and Norwich City. His first taste of management came at Rotherham United, before going on to take charge at Barnsley.

Robins is most well-known for his two spells at Coventry City. His first reign at the club began in 2012; he took over the Sky Blues sat 23rd in League One and changed the side's fortunes, picking up 44 points from 24 league games which prompted Championship outfit Huddersfield Town to bring him in.

The English manager had subsequent stints with the Terriers and Scunthorpe United before returning to the West Midlands for his second spell in charge of the Sky Blues.

Coventry City were propelled from League Two to the Championship under Robins' management and reached the Play-Off Final and Emirates FA Cup semi-final with the Lancashire born boss at the helm.

Since joining the Potters midway through the current campaign, Robins has achieved a win percentage of 27.78%, winning five times, drawing six and losing seven.

OPPOSITION FOCUS | SEASON SO FAR

Our visitors head into this weekend’s contest sat 20th in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Potters have struggled for stability this season, with both Pèlach and Steven Schumacher being relieved of their duties during the course of the campaign.

Stoke have underperformed on the road this term, picking up just 14 of their 44 points away from home, but have enjoyed a recent run of positive form by going unbeaten in their last three matches.

Last time out, the Potters were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Luton Town. Lewis Baker gave the hosts the lead in the 74th minute but the Hatters managed to snatch a point at the death when Millenic Alli equalised in injury time.

CITY FLASHBACK | SPOT KICK FINISH

The Bluebirds last faced Stoke City in Emirates FA Cup action back in February.

City got off to a flying start when Rubin Colwill and Yousef Salech both fired home in the opening 19 minutes.

However, Lewis Koumas got one back just before the break, before doubling his tally for the day shortly after the interval.

Lewis Baker put the Potters into the lead by firing home from the spot, but Colwill was able to bring the score level with his second of the game, sending the tie to extra time and penalties.

Salech and Tatsuki Seko both struck the woodwork in the shootout, but Ethan Horvath’s crucial save paved the way for Colwill to seal the victory and send the Bluebirds through to the next round of the competition.

Graham Kavanagh takes a free-kick against Stoke City...
CLUB CONNECTION | GRAHAM KAVANAGH

During a playing career that spanned 21 years, midfielder Graham Kavanagh represented both the Bluebirds and the Potters.

Kavanagh first appeared for Stoke City on loan from Middlesbrough in 1996, and made the Potteries his permanent home the following season.

He spent five years in Staffordshire, accumulating over 200 appearances and scoring almost 30 goals from midfield.

One of the highlights during his time with the Potters was the 2000 Football League Trophy Final, in which he scored to help secure a 2-1 victory over Bristol City.

The Irish international made the move to the Welsh capital in the summer of 2001, with Stoke City teammate Peter Thorne following in his footsteps a few months later.

Kavanagh became a fans' favourite whilst at Ninian Park, scoring a famous free kick against Leeds United in the FA Cup and captaining the Bluebirds to a historic promotion to the second tier of English football in 2003.

He departed in 2005, ending his spell at City having made over 150 appearances.
