Frank Lampard
OPPOSITION FOCUS | IN THE DUGOUT

Coventry City's manager is Frank Lampard, who was appointed last month.

In his playing days, Lampard had a stellar career, making over 600 Premier League appearances for Chelsea and scoring 177 goals. He also represented England on the international stage over 100 times.

He took his first steps into coaching with Chelsea’s youth sides before landing his first senior job as manager of Derby County. He led his Derby side to the Play-Off Final in his first season in charge, but they were defeated 2-1 by Aston Villa.

At the conclusion of that season, Lampard returned to Chelsea. He guided the Blues to a fourth-place finish, but was dismissed the following season with the side sat in ninth place.

After a year out of work, Lampard was appointed manager of Everton. He managed to guide the club to safety, having taken over during a relegation battle, but was sacked the following season leaving the club in 19th position.

He briefly returned to Chelsea in April 2023 as caretaker manager following the dismissal of Graham Potter. Since taking over as Coventry City manager, Lampard has won three, drawn two and lost two of his seven fixtures.

Milan van Ewijk
OPPOSITION FOCUS | SEASON SO FAR

Our visitors come into the game currently sitting 15th in the Sky Bet Championship table.

The Sky Blues have fared better at home this season, picking up 18 points in 12 games on home soil, while their 12 away matches have resulted in 10 points.

After being defeated 4-1 by Portsmouth before Christmas, the side have reacted well, as they beat Plymouth Argyle 4-0 on Boxing Day.

Last time out, the Sky Blues recorded a point in a goalless draw at home to Millwall.

Haji Wright
OPPOSITION FOCUS | KEY PLAYER

The Sky Blues' key player is striker Haji Wright, who joined the club from Turkish side Antalyaspor prior to the 2023/24 season.

The American has scored 26 goals in 67 games in all competitions since joining the side. Last season he finished as the sixth highest goal scorer in the Championship, scoring 16 times.

However, the attacker suffered an ankle injury on November 9th, which has kept him out of action and could see him miss their trip to CCS.

In his absence, the side have been operating with Norman Bassette up front, who joined the club in August from Caen and has since scored two league goals in 13 league matches.

Aron Gunnarsson during his time at Cardiff City
CLUB CONNECTION | ARON GUNNARSSON

Aron Gunnarsson began his career representing Þór Akureyri and AZ Alkmaar before joining Coventry City.

The Icelandic midfielder enjoyed his time at the Sky Blues making 122 league appearances during a three-year spell at the club.

He swapped the West Midlands for the Welsh capital in the summer of 2011. Gunnarsson went on to spend eight years with the Bluebirds making 271 appearances.

Gunnarsson was part of two successful City promotion sides and became a fan favourite at CCS.
