The Bluebirds meet the Archers in the Quarter-Final of the FAW Womens Cup on Wednesday evening - kick-off at 7pm at Cardiff International Sports Campus.
Cup Run: The Bluebirds
Cardiff City FC Women have so far played in Round 1 and Round 2 of the FAW Womens Cup, beginning the campaign with a comprehensive 6-1 victory over Briton Ferry Llansawel Ladies.
The Bluebirds got off to a flying start by opening the scoring after just 15 seconds – with Green finding the net following Alana Murphy’s strike off the post and forward Kate Jeremiah being denied by Courtney Young.
Six minutes later, Cardiff City conceded their first goal of the campaign, as Sophie Topper equalising on the rebound after her original strike hit the post.
City responded strongly and created chance after chance, before regaining their lead after 35 minutes. From Jeremiah’s corner, Catherine Walsh headed in via the upright to put her side ahead once more.
After the interval, the Bluebirds continued in dominant fashion and it took them nine minutes to net a third. Threatening Jeremiah rounded goalkeeper Young and slotted in from an acute angle.
Five minutes later, determined Jeremiah secured a brace by finding the bottom corner from a narrow angle and became the squad’s joint top scorer, joining Murphy on nine goals.
With 81 minutes played, substitute Zoe Atkins added her name to the scoresheet by shooting home from close range off Jeremiah’s through-ball. She went on to score a second and City’s sixth six minutes later – finding the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
Round 2 saw the Bluebirds progress further by defeating WPWL side Aberystwyth Town Ladies 7-0 at Cardiff International Sports Campus.
Taking the lead at 23 minutes, Catherine Walsh secured her brace from the 12-yard spot with ten minutes of the first half remaining, as Kate Jeremiah also picked up a well-earned brace against the Greens.
Goals from Danielle Broadhurst, Jasmine Simpson and Zoe Atkins rounded off the performance, with the visitors unable to provide a responding goal.
The Opposition

This season, the Archers have defeated both Cyncoed Ladies and Caldicot Town 6-2 on their way to the Quarter-Final. Their form in the Cup matches their performances in the WPWL, where they are currently in second place behind Swansea City.
Three points ahead of the Bluebirds but having played one more match so far this season, this meeting between the two sides will be one to watch as the two WPWL high-flyers take to the pitch on Sunday afternoon...
